Do You Know Your NON-Emergency Numbers?

Your non-number is the number you should use to report all non-emergency situations. Using your non-number allows your 9-1-1 center to better prioritize calls and gets help to those in life or property threatening situations as fast as possible. Your non-emergency call may take a little longer for dispatch to answer - please, don't hang up! Your call is important to us and the agencies we serve!

Employees at the Alcorn County E911 Center are responsible for answering Emergency 9-1-1 calls and non-emergency calls daily. However, there is a clear focus on answering 9-1-1 calls first. With this in mind, citizens should be aware that they may encounter wait times on the non-emergency line if the Call Takers are handling emergencies.

Citizens should not hang up and dial 9-1-1 if you cannot get through on the non-emergency line. 9-1-1 should only be used when there is a life-threatening emergency. ** If the call is not an emergency situation, the caller will be asked to hang up and call 286-7703.
